Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb have been at this shit for over 10 years now and are just getting around to releasing their second record. Was it worth the wait? My friend, if you like records that have a little bit of everything, covering the gamut from garagey punk to punky garage, well, Fake Nature is certainly a record.

Being (mostly) from Washington DC, SWALTB's lyrics are influenced by the rigged system with post-apocalyptic visions, or shit, maybe they're fantasies at this point. They also sing about complex socioeconomic matters like ripping off bands (generally supportive of it) and bandmates who would rather cancel band practice than ride roller coasters. The songs are mostly fast and mostly short, but there are some longer and slower ones, too, probably because good weed is easier to find these days.

about

lyrics

These are lies you pretend are true/better days are what you want for you
Hard work was your retirement plan
Offers come on the TV/Don’t you listen to that pissin’, don’t believe a word you see
Can’t you see that it is all a scam?

These are lies you should have not known weren’t true/but you heard them every day since the early age of two
After all, wasn’t that the American dream?
Buy a home for a price you can’t pay/fulfil your wishin’, bad decision, then you work your youth away
When you’re underwater nobody can hear you scream

Face it, pensions will get raided/and taxes get evaded/it’s dumb and complicated
But I don’t think it’s true/all the things you do/staring back in the mirror with the knife in you/and I just don’t wanna ever end up like you
Promises they often fail/perverse mortgage, your life is a short sale

These are lies you should have not known weren’t true/but you stood a lot to gain, so they sounded good to you
Why not you were just trying to get your share
The future’s now, can’t save no more/you thought you were middle class, but now you learned your poor
You’re not alone, it’s hardly rare

about

(Stop Worrying &) Love the Bomb Washington, D.C.

Although (Stop Worrying &) Love the Bomb is heavily influenced by CBGB/Max's Kansas City punk, power pop, punk, and garage rock of all eras, the band's sound doesn't really fit neatly into any of the those boxes. "Nihilistic pop punk" might be an accurate description, or Post-Apoc Rock and Roll by Due Process of law.." ... more
